Step 1-Preparation
The first step in painting the car is to prepare the body. For preparing the body, you need to first select
the location.
It is important to select because there must be adequate airflow and water available. It is because the
chemicals are not safe to breathe in, and they can cause flames as well. Secondly, you will need to
remove the rust or dents if there are any. Some dents will also require you to use some putty to get rid
of all the imperfections.

Step 2- Sanding
The second step is sanding. Here you will start with the low grit sandpaper and move towards the higher
grits. Eventually, you will end up with wet sanding, and the surface will be very fine. Here you need to
wash the surface and make it free from any dust or grime.

Step 3-Priming
To start with this step, you will need to apply tape to cover the area that you do not want to paint. Now
you will apply the rust-resistant primer to the metal surface. After the first coat cures, you can apply the
second one.

Step 4-Painting
When the primer is set, you will need to sand it a little bit with the fine sandpaper to maintain the shape
and then clean the area. Afterward, you can paint the surface with 3 to 5 coats according to need. Make
sure to let one coat dry before applying the other. Once the paint is set, you will need to sand a bit again
before you apply the clear coat. Make sure to apply all the layers in even motion.

Step 5-Finishing
Now you are left with a part of your car that has good paint once again. Here all you need to do is to
remove the masking tape. Afterward, you can buff the surface of the car with some compounds. Make
sure that you apply it in a circular motion and do not put too much stress. You will be left with a
seamless car body paint after this step finishes.
