With the advancement of technology and the importance of the lives of drivers and passengers, the number of safety options for the car is increasing day by day to provide more safety for the people in the car. One of the most widely used and important options used in modern cars and helps the driver in times of drowsiness and distraction is the Lane-keeping assist (LKA) or lane-centering assist.

How does this system work?
The system uses a camera that sits behind a rear-view mirror (Mirror) and detects lines on the road. The radar control section between the lines after detecting the lines of the road and according to the size and dimensions of the car, the criterion that has been set for it, and accordingly, if the car gets too close to the lines, system alerts the driver and takes the control of the car.

Now the question arises whether this system also works for lane change and detects the danger or not?
In response, it should be said that if you want to change direction and at the same time the radar between the lines is active, you must follow the rules so that the radar does not warn you, in other words, to change direction, you must use the left or right turn signal so The radar does not detect danger and you can easily change direction without the intervention of this system.

What is the difference between Lane-keeping assist (LKA) and Lane Departure Warning?
In the Lane Departure Warning system, after detecting the car going off the road, it warns the driver in different ways, and these warnings are given to the driver in different ways in different cars.

This System uses different types of alerts:

Audio alert:
In some cars, the system beeps if you cross the lanes and move on the lanes.

Vibration warning:
In some other vehicles, the lane departure warning system alerts the driver by vibrating the steering wheel or seat.
This type of vibration is completely different from other vibrations in the car so that the driver does not confuse it with the vibrating lines on the side of the road or the vibration caused by braking.
In vehicles that warn the driver to shake the seat, vibration can occur depending on the direction of the vehicle to the left or right of the seat.
Audio alarms are generally used in most Asian cars.
But Europeans also use a vibration warning system.

Video alert:
In this case, an image and a warning sign are shown to the driver on the odometer monitor.
This warning is usually the same for all vehicles and includes a view of two road lines that are normally green.
But when the car moves on the lanes, this sign turns red.
This type of alarm alone is not very effective and is therefore usually used in addition to audible alarms.
In some new cars, a lane departure warning system is also embedded in the head-up display system.
In some cars, the volume level of this system can be adjusted so as not to disturb the comfort of the occupants.

The same thing happens if your car is equipped with the Lane-keeping assist (LKA), except that if you do not get back between lanes, the car computer with the help of the electric steering system (EPS), gently rotates the steering wheel to keep the car in position.

If the road lines are unclear, the lines disappear or the path is covered with snow, this system does not recognize the lines and does not work well.
